Please save the date for the 4th Annual Health Carnival!

May 16, 2019
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Panther Valley Intermediate School

For those of you who are not familiar with the Health Carnival, this is a yearly event organized by the St. Luke’s Miners/Panther Valley School District Adopt A School program and School Climate Committee.  The idea is to showcase local resources to address the overall health and wellness of our community in a fun and educational way.    Each year, we have had approximately 300 students, their families, and community members attend this event, and we hope to make this year bigger and better than ever!  There is no cost to participate.
If your group or organization is interested in participating, here is some important information on what you can expect:
1.                    1.  We ask each group or organization to provide an interactive activity to promote health and wellness for participants.  This can be a physical activity (i.e., exercise, ball toss, hula hooping, jump rope, etc.) or mental health activity (i.e, music, coloring, crafts, making stress balls, etc.).  The purpose of the activity is to engage the participants so that they really learn what your organization is about.  Attendees will be asking you to check off a card when they visit your area.  The purpose of the card is to encourage all attendees to visit every organization and interact with you (participate in your activity, ask questions, etc).  They will receive tickets good for door prizes for each organization  they have checked off of  their card.
2.                    2.  We are not able to provide tables.  We will provide each organization with a space to set up any displays or your activity, but if you require a table, you will need to bring your own.  We are also partnering with the Lansford Fire Company, who will provide a table for you for this event for a small donation.
3.                    3.  This event is held outdoors in the parking lot area of the Intermediate School.  Please keep this in mind when planning your activity and considering how you plan to set up your area.  We will make arrangements to move inside in case of rain, however, past years have seen a lot of sun and wind, so if you plan to bring a tent, just remember to bring weights so it doesn’t blow away.
4.                    4.  You are welcome to bring giveaways if you wish, however, we do ask that you pleasedo not bring food or candy items of any kind.  We have several students/families with allergies and in keeping with the theme, we would like to encourage healthy habits. Please also do not bring anything to sell, as we promote this event as completely free.
5.    Please take a moment to register if you are planning to attend.  We do ask that you treat your registration as a commitment to attend, either by yourself or by someone in your organization.  We do understand that emergencies happen, but we do promote this event quite heavily and we have participants attending looking to find out more about the organizations represented, so if you register, please make every effort to attend.   https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HealthCarnival2019   If you aren’t sure what activity you will be providing, please just write TBD in that space.
Please feel free to forward this email to any organization you think would like to participate.  We look forward to an exciting event and hope to see you soon.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
