  • Superintendent's Message

  • The Panther Valley School District is aware that families have a number of questions about what the 2020-2021 school year will look like for students.  The district has put together a pandemic team that is working on creating a state mandated Health and Safety plan that the district will implement at the start of the 2020-2021 school year.  We hope to submit this plan to the Board of Education and subsequently release it to the public in early August.
The Health and Safety plan will outline the district's policies and procedures for students, staff, visitors, and other stakeholders under various conditions.  Student and staff safety are paramount in this decision making process.  That being said, we are well aware that each family's level of comfort with sending their child to school may differ.  We plan to have multiple options for parents to consider in each of the phases.
We ask that you trust the district and give us the time needed to put a comprehensive plan together.  Many districts have released pieces of information that have parents in a panic.  We do not want that.  It is in the best interest of all families to think about different options that may be best for your family next year in the event that there is a partial or full closure of school due to COVID19.  That decision is not made locally, but rather by the Governor's office.  We will do our best to continue to support families if that circumstance arises.
Lastly, we encourage all community members to continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the Governor's office and the CDC.  Carbon County has had a lot of success in mitigating this virus.  That is due to the efforts of our community.  We hope that you have an enjoyable summer.  Stay safe and we anxiously await the return of our students.
