District Details
Panther Valley School District serves the communities of Coaldale, Lansford, Nesquehoning, and Summit Hill in Carbon and Schuylkill Counties, Pennsylvania. The district was established in 1964 through the consolidation of several local school districts as part of Pennsylvania's statewide school reorganization efforts. The name "Panther Valley" was selected to reflect the region's shared identity and history.
The district's roots are deeply connected to the anthracite coal industry that shaped the communities it serves. For generations, families in the Panther Valley region worked in the coal mines and related industries, creating a strong tradition of hard work, resilience, and community pride. As the region transitioned from its coal mining past, the school district evolved to meet the changing educational and economic needs of its students and families.
